CLASSY, CHIC, & A CONVERSATION PIECE

Jewelry that inspires connection with others

My designs are influenced by professional and cultural experiences of places that I've lived (e.g., San Diego, Texas, Hawaii, Washington, Washington DC, Mexico City) and each piece has a unique story to tell, which I enjoy sharing with my clients. I work with various mediums (e.g., semi-precious gemstones, metals, wire-work, etc.) and I build my collections based on a new skill learned, so I always have something new and exciting to share.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER - DR. CHELI

Thank you for visiting my site!

I absolutely love to create! Beads are my passion. It's amaaazing what you can create with a few tools, some beautiful gemstones, and limitless creativity. I've also been in school for as long as I can remember. Throughout grad school I Pinned countless beautiful handmade items all the while, longing to one day have my own jewelry business. I finally stopped dreaming, took the plunge, and launched my store!

I launched my business when I was completing my doctorate degree (PhD) in Counseling Psychology.  I hustled throughout the farmer's markets of San Diego, CA to gather enough money to pay my tuition, a statistician to run my analysis, an editor, travel for graduation, and other dissertation related expenses. I had so much fun meeting people throughout the city and bringing joy to people through my jewelry designs.

Each piece is mindfully made with love and I seek to inspire, motivate, and empower you through my jewelry designs! Visit my Etsy store to see my latest designs.

WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING ABOUT OUR JEWELRY

"This ring is absolutely beautiful! I bought one for myself two years ago and ended up giving it to a friend. She liked it and the ring seemed to symbolized how our paths intertwined in graduate school, our PhD journey and the beauty of our friendship. This year I purchased 3 rings; one for myself, the other two for my sisters. The rings will represent our trials as individuals, conflicts and bond of sisterhood."

Dr. Liz Vasquez

"I have worn these earrings so often since buying them! They are not only beautiful but really well made. Araceli made sure the earrings had custom details to make them unique and one of a kind."

Dominique Navarro

"These are so perfect! delicate, nuanced in the light, such a great pop of color! I hope my sister hides them; otherwise, they'll be on my ears!"

JEWELRY WITH A MISSION

Addressing the mental health needs of underserved populations.

Proceeds of jewelry sales support PhunDed.org, a scholarship for first-generation PhDs in mental health addressing the mental health disparities of our nation.

PHUNDED

Funding the future of first-generation PhDs

Founded in 2017 by Dr. Araceli López-Arenas (Dr. Cheli), PhunDed (fun-ded) inspires action to address the mental health needs of underserved communities (e.g., Veteran, homeless, low-income, immigrant, refugee, ethnic minorities, LGBTQIA+, etc.).

We are driven by a firm belief that everyone should have access to mental health care. We start by increasing the number of first-generation, single, female psychologists capable of addressing the service gap need.

For many, like Dr. López-Arenas, funding was a great barrier to completing her degree. As such, PhunDed was created to provide scholarships to All But Dissertation (ABD) psychology trainees to help pay for "end of the journey" expenses like a statistician, an editor, tuition, graduation, and other unexpected costs. There are limited fellowships (if any) for ABDs and PhunDed provides scholarships to PhDs who need a little financial assistance to complete their doctoral degrees.

At PhunDed, we are inspired each day by the work we do, and believe that one way to address the culturally-competent psychologist gap is to provide fellowships to ABDs who cannot advance their degrees due to financial limitations.

We believe that PhunDed can support ABD first-generation, single, female PhDs by providing the financial support they need in order to unlock their potential.

We want all doctoral candidates to envision their goals and realize they have the ability to make their dreams a reality!

I'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU!
